Welcome to Southill Cricket Club - Founded 1884

Welcome to Southill Cricket Club and the pages of its web site.

Southill Park Cricket Club is one of the most picturesque grounds in the country and nestles in the grounds of the Whitbread Family Estate. The ground is situated near the M1 and A1 in the green belt land of Bedfordshire, near the Old Warden Air field where the Shuttleworth Collection of aircraft regularly holds air displays throughout the summer.

We currently run 2 teams in the Bedfordshire League which is played on Sundays, a Saturday team which plays many visiting London sides, a Midweek cup team and 2 Winter Indoor League teams.

2004 was a relatively successful year with the 1st Eleven finishing as runners-up in Bedfordshire League Division 1. The second eleven also had a successful year finishing third in Division 3. The 2005 season has started well with the Indoor A team winning Division 2 of the Bedfordshire Indoor League. Congratulations to them.

Southill is a small hamlet in the centre of Bedfordshire made up of houses and buildings owned by the Southill Estate. Serviced by an excellent pub / restaurant, the White Horse is a must for visiting teams and locals alike

The Club has, in its time, been the centre of historic cricket in the area and celebrated its centenary in 1984. As part of this history, Southill Park's links with the famous brewing family, the Whitbread's, enabled the club to host a very special game in 1977, in which a Southill Park XI with one or two eminent guests, Tony Grieg Mike Denness Allan Border and Jim Parks, played hosts to a Young Australian XI containing men who would later become well known Australian test cricketers. These included David Boon, G Marsh and Greg Dyer.

As we enter the new millennium and modern technology becomes a way of life, its only fitting that the club embraces it and modernises the way it publicises itself and opens its doors to visitors from the World Wide Web.

I hope you enjoy looking through these pages and we look forward to you contacting us as a player or prospective visiting team.
