Report to follow soon Golf Day Feb 2005A great day was had by the members of the Southill Park Golf Society that held its inaugural golf day at the Lower Stondon Golf Course and it was noticed a few prominent golfers in the Cricket Club hadn't taken the challenge. During the pre game warm up in the bar whilst devouring the mornings breakfast it was being speculated that due to the high class of the competing field of players had deterred these individuals from entering such a high level competition. The senior professionals had enlisted the help of a local caddy to guide them through the local hazards and point out the local bird population. The three groups of 3 balls started with the senior pro's in the first group and ending in the higher handicappers teeing off last The round did start of well for the senior pro's and they soon moved off as did the second group of golfers. Unfortunately Clive Browning, who was in the third group, sent his first tee shot way off to the right and out of bounds, but by the 4th hole had balanced up his round to forget the poor start. By the end of the day whilst sat in the 19th we all reflected on what had been an excellent first golf day and social gathering.
